Proofreading

What is Proofreading?

Proofreading is the final step in the editing process. When I proofread, I look for:

  • grammar and punctuation
  • typos
  • number and numeral use
  • extra spacing
  • formatting issues

Are You Ready for Developmental Editing?

You are ready for proofreading after you have worked with a developmental editor (or several beta readers), worked with a copy editor, and are ready to publish/send off your novel or story.

What Will You Get From Me?

If you hire me, I will

  • set a deadline with you.
  • read through your novel or story and make edits using track changes (Microsoft Word) or suggestions (Google Docs) depending on your preference. I will also make notes, comments, and suggestions for changes as I see them (looking out for the items listed above).
  • send you a letter with any frequent edits I made so you know what your habits are and can learn something new. I used to be a writing tutor, so I think it's important to teach writing skills where I can.

Genres I Developmentally Edit

I can proofread Adult, YA, or MG fantasy, science fiction, contemporary, mystery/suspense, or historical and any sub-genre within these genres. I can also proofread nonfiction, articles, and blog posts. I will not edit any novel or story with an extreme amount of profanity or explicit sex scenes.

If you would like to hire me, please contact me using any of the channels here.
